Omar G Awar
M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Awar is a Southeast Texas native from Beaumont, TX. He earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine and went on to complete his residency training at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA. He returned to the Texas Medical Center to complete his General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology training at Baylor College of Medicine, where he served as both Chief General Cardiology Fellow and Chief Interventional Cardiology Fellow. He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Awar’s clinical interests include treatment of coronary and vascular disease and he specializes in performing heart catheterizations through the wrist (radial approach) in order to enhance patient comfort and safety. He also has taken special interest in the treatment of vein disease involving the legs and is able to offer our patient’s a safe and effective office-based procedure for the treatment of varicose veins as the source of chronic leg swelling and pain.
